The Dog Without a Leash

A friend of mine is a dog trainer. She once told me that a well-trained dog won’t run away even if you unleash it on the sidewalk.

I found that fascinating. When an animal has lived inside boundaries for a long time, removing those boundaries doesn’t necessarily change its behavior. Even when it’s free to move, it may stay right where it learned to stay.

For some reason, it reminded me of something from many years ago.

Back then, I wanted to build some side income. But because of my visa restrictions, I couldn’t earn money outside my full-time job.

So I waited. And waited. And waited.

Eventually, I had the freedom to build side income.

One day, my wife asked me, “You used to talk about side income all the time. Now that you’re finally free to do it, why haven’t I seen you doing it?”
