Ordinary
Standing in a subway station, watching so many people come and go, I’m often reminded that I’m not as important as I once believed.
Every day when I open my computer, I’m reminded of the same thing. There are so many talented people in the world. People who are smarter, more experienced, more confident, more articulate, more resourceful, more knowledgeable.
But strangely, accepting my own ordinariness has made me feel more free.
The older I get, the less I feel the need to prove what I can do or justify what I’ve done. I’m learning to accept my imperfections, care less about how others see me, and trust that being myself is enough.
Accept that we are ordinary.
And believe that ordinary people can still do extraordinary things.
