What I’m Making Money For
Making money isn’t the end goal. It’s a means to something larger.
I want to be a better husband and a better dad, and to live a purposeful life that lifts others up. I make money to build the life I want.
That means:
When I’m playing with my kids or on a date with my wife, no matter how much work is waiting, I should be fully present. Isn’t that the moment I’ll value most once I’ve made a lot of money?
When I’m at the gym and feeling good, I should embrace it. Isn’t that the health and energy I want to have once I’ve made a lot of money?
And when I’m working with students and clients, I should be obsessed with understanding their needs and helping them change. Isn’t that the impact I want to have once I’ve made a lot of money?
The goal isn’t to make money and then start living.
The goal is to live with purpose while I make it.
