It’s Usually the Product
Someone once said: “Most marketing problems are actually product problems. It’s emotionally easier to blame the marketing than the product.”
One of the most powerful forms of marketing is word of mouth. Ironically, word of mouth is hard to buy, hard to manipulate, and hard to hack.
When results aren’t good, the common first reaction is to blame the marketing and find ways to promote harder.
A less common reaction is to ask how to make the product better, to solve people’s problems really well.
When something is truly good, people naturally want to share it, even when the audience is small.
